But Selena Gomez today told her fans that she is splitting from her band Selena Gomez & The Scene.

She wrote on her Facebook page: ‘Just to clear up my last instagram post, my band and I are going our separate ways for a while.

This year is all about films and acting and I want my band to play music wherever with whoever. We will be back but, it will be a good while. I love them and I love you guys ’

The message that the 19-year-old Disney star was referring to was a cryptic note on her Webstagram page that she had posted one hour earlier.

It read: ‘I can’t express enough how grateful I am for this group. They have been with me since day one and I can’t believe it’s actually over. I love you The Scene, marsh mellow girls, Ashley & Ashlee, Jivanta, Marco, Brian & Brian, mark, Jason, Javier, Timmy! Could NOT have done any of this without you. Currently bawling my eyes out. I’ll miss you guys.’

The band, who have released three albums together in three years, had just wrapped their South American tour.

Selena wrote on her Facebook page before taking to the stage for her final show with her band members: ‘This tour has been amazing, Thank you all for all the love and support you have shown me on this tour. Today is the last show but…. I will be back. Love you all.’

While the Wizards of Waverly Place star is evidently sad to be splitting from her pop band, she certainly has a lot to smile about when it comes to further forging her acting career.

The brunette is making the seemingly permanent transition from television to the big screen, following her success in teen film Monte Carlo alongside Leighton Meester.

She has recently replaced fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus voicing a character in upcoming animated movie Hotel Transylvania.
She is also starring in thriller Aftershock, which is due for release next year, as well as highly anticipated drama Spring Breakers, which is also set to hit cinemas in 2013.

The movie, which also stars Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco, Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson and Glee star Heather Morris, tells the story of four college girls who rob a restaurant in order to fund their Spring break.

After they are bailed out by a drug and arms dealer, played by James Franco, they are forced to do some dirty work in order to repay him.

Miley Cyrus was originally set to voice a part in Adam Sandler’s animated vampire movie, ‘Hotel Transylvania,’ but after dropping the role, Selena Gomez is reportedly taking her place.

According to E! News, Adam will voice Dracula, and Selena will voice his vampire daughter, Mavis. Andy Samberg, Cee Lo Green and Kevin James have also signed onto the project, which is slated for a September release.

Now that the ‘Who Says’ singer has taken a break from music, she has more time to focus on her acting career, which includes a more mature role in the upcoming film ‘Spring Breakers.’ Last month, the 19-year-old reportedly optioned the Jandy Nelson novel ‘The Sky Is Everywhere’ to be made into a feature film, which she will likely star in.

The 19-year-old actress/musician hit the stage later that night for her concert with The Scene.

“BTW Mexico City, that was the most intense, crazy, chaotic most beautiful show EVER.. Thank you! Te amo,” Selena tweeted.

Selena also shared a cute Instagram pic with stepdad Brian giving her a piggy back ride.

“So every time I perform Who Says I always go barefoot (which everyone hates, but it’s fun) so that means Brian has to give me piggy back rides all the way out of the venues ” she wrote. How cute!

Selena Gomez is getting ready to release her Dream Out Loud Spring 2012 collection, and now the 19-year-old is taking her fans behind the scenes of the photoshoot for the line.

In the clip, Selena talks about her personal style, saying, “I like to take risks, try new things to just gain more confidence and be more daring.”

The video offers a sneak peek at what’s in store — neon hues, flare jeans — while the singer opens up about her vision for the clothing and accessories collection.

“I didn’t want my clothing line to be just about me, I wanted it to be about my fans,” she insists. “They’re independent, they’re individual, so they can wear one of my cardigans and dress it with a cute skirt, or with pants or with boots, or with flats. It’s whatever they want to make it who they are.”

She adds, “Ultimately, you should be dressing for you and no one else.” We couldn’t have said it better.

Teen star Selena Gomez is preparing to visit the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of her humanitarian work for the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

The star has been a Unicef ambassador for two years, and has visited Ghana and Chile in a bid to raise awareness of the organization’s work with children.

She performed at The House of Blues in Los Angeles on Monday to raise $200,000 for the charity, and revealed she is gearing up for a trip to the Congo after a word of encouragement from fellow Unicef ambassador Joel Madden.

She tells E!Online, “We first went to Ghana and then we went to Chile. In April, we’re going to go somewhere a little harder, the Congo… The first trips were to ease me into it.”

“I was talking to Joel Madden and he works with Unicef and he went to the Congo. He said it was the most intense thing he had ever done in his entire life – and the best thing he had ever done.”

‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ star is attached to produce ‘The Sky is Everywhere.’
As Selena Gomez maps out her post-”Wizards of Waverly Place” career, her projects continue to be more and more diverse.

Gomez is attached to produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel “The Sky is Everywhere.” Gomez will not only play the part of producer but could potentially land the novel’s lead role of Lennie Walker, Deadline reports.

Lennie is a 17-year-old nerd-type who loses her older, outgoing sister, Bailey. After Bailey dies, Lennie must step out of her sister’s shadow when she falls for two guys (one of whom was Bailey’s boyfriend). No word on who is attached to star in the other key parts of the movie. Before she hits the set for “The Sky is Everywhere,” Gomez already has some other films lined up. The actress/singer will shoot the darker “Spring Breakers” early this year and has been rumored to be attached to a film called “Hot Mess.”

When Gomez spoke to MTV News late last year, she shared that she didn’t have any big expectations going into 2012. It seems that game plan is working for her. “I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn’t expecting any of the things that happened,” she said. “And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything.”

Selena Gomez and her production company July Moon has optioned the Jandy Nelson novel The Sky Is Everywhere. Gomez will develop the book as a star vehicle for the screen. She will play 17-year old Lennie Walker, a bookworm and band geek who plays clarinet and lives in the shadow of her extroverted older sister, Bailey. When Bailey dies suddenly, her younger sibling is left to take center stage and balance not one boy but two. One is his sister’s grieving boyfriend, the other a musically inclined transplant from Paris. Her whole world threatens to collapse all over again as she tries to juggle both guys.
