Selena Gomez Can’t Wait To Chow Down On Home Cooking

The UNICEF ambassador reveals she will be spending Christmas with her family.
With the holiday season already underway and only weeks until Christmas, Selena Gomez luckily knows how she’s going to spend the remaining days of 2012. And, for those interested, it means lots and lots of family dinners.

“Honestly we just love being able to just be together as a family,” the singer/actress shared at the eighth Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City on Monday night. “Everybody travels, my grandfather travels, I travel. I’m always out. So just being together, telling stories, cooking, eating a lot, that’s usually what we do around the holidays.”

Gomez hit up the event, held at NYC’s famed Cipriani, as she and her maybe ex, Justin Bieber, continue to keep fans guessing about their relationship status. And until she spends the holidays with her family, she’s still got a few commitments to keep. That included attending the star-studded, splashy gala, which honored some of the folks closest to the charity and helped raise $2.5 million (according to Gomez’s Twitter). Gomez is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and was originally inspired to work with them by her fans, she shared.

“Well I’ve been working with UNICEF for the past five years now. They’re an organization that’s close to my heart. I think, for me, I started with Disney Channel and my show ['The Wizards of Waverly Place'] had a lot of younger fans. When I see the fans and we have live audience tapings and I see some of them maybe being sick, they’re the reason why I’m here,” she said. “If I’m able to do anything to give back to the families or the kids that help me every single day, kids hold a special place in my heart for that reason.”

In addition to Gomez, the night was also attended by a bevy of stars including Uma Thurman, “Girls” star Allison Williams, music legend Tony Bennett and her pal, Katy Perry. “The reason I’m here is I’m really excited to support UNICEF and bring even more light on the charity because if I can take the attention I have re-prioritize it for other people then I feel like I’m doing a better work,” Perry shared.

Selena Gomez’s Post-’Hotel Transylvania’ To-Do List: Thrillers And New Music!

MTV News looks ahead at Gomez’s thrillers, drama and action flicks — and even a new album.
This week Selena Gomez voices a starring role in the animated flick, “Hotel Transylvania.” While the film keeps Gomez’s cinema feet firmly planted in family-friendly films, the singer/actress is working on a number of other more mature projects in her post-”Hotel Transylvania” life. So, if you’re wondering what your next Gomez film is going to be, MTV News is looking ahead at what else she has cooking up.

Gomez made many a headline when she signed up for the Harmony Korine-directed “Spring Breakers.” Judging from a clip, which recently made its online debut, the film is much darker in tone than the usual Gomez film, as she so boldly claims that “everybody’s miserable.”

“People will be a little shocked, I think,” Gomez told MTV News earlier this summer, adding, “I’m a little nervous about it, but honestly, it’s a right step for me. I’m really proud of it. I think as an actress it really challenged me. All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.”

“Spring Breakers” had one of its premieres during the Toronto International Film Festival along with the horror flick, “Aftershock,” in which she stars alongside director Eli Roth. “It’s actually a very funny scene with him, and I’m improving. And it’s cute,” she said of her part in it. “Well, I mean, the movie’s not cute. It’s actually scary, but the scene was cute.”

She’ll also set to appear with Ethan Hawke in the caper, “Getaway.” When the film was announced she shared why she wanted to sign on for the film, saying, “It’s more of an action movie, which is also different.” And, for “Parental Guidance Suggested,” Gomez will embark on a rock-themed odyssey based on the 2000 novel “While I’m Dead … Feed the Dog,” by Ric Browde.

Earlier this year, she had also been attached to a number of other projects in development. Gomez will produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel “The Sky Is Everywhere.” She’s also rumored to act in a film called “Hot Mess” and “13 Reasons Why,” the film adaptation of Jay Asher’s bestselling book — though little else has broken in regards to Gomez’s standing in those flicks.

And, then there’s her music. She shared with us over the summer that “I am missing music, so we’re going to start on the fourth record at the end of this year.” She added that she wants it to sound “very different! I want to go for producers that probably wouldn’t want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. I want to work with just different styles of music … I also want to work with Taylor [Swift] too. So I just want to do different things for this album.” The album most likely will drop next year.

Selena Gomez Calls Her Next Album ‘My Tell-All’

Get More: Music News

Earlier this year, Selena Gomez announced that she was taking a break from music to focus on her growing film career.

Well, after six months, her own fragrance and three movies, Gomez and her band are gearing up to get back into the studio.

MTV News caught up with the actress/singer at the premiere of Katy Perry’s new “Part of Me” movie, and she revealed that she even though concentrating on film has been “nice,” she is ready to start recording soon.

“I have a thousand ideas,” Gomez said about this being the right time to return to music. “This album is going to be the first one that I’m actually going to spend as long as I want — it can be two months, it could be a whole year before this album comes out — so I’m going to have my freedom with it. It’ll be, like, my tell-all, in a way.”

Even though she described the album as her “tell-all,” don’t expect Gomez to be revealing all the details about her relationship with boyfriend Justin Bieber.

“Just experiences,” Gomez said of what she will be writing about. “I’m going to be able to talk about things that I’ve never really talked about before, just because the last records have been really rushed, so I’m just excited to be able to take my time with it.”

And now that she has the time to spend on her fourth studio album, her follow-up to 2011′s When the Sun Goes Down, Gomez is ready to take on a whole new sound. Earlier this month, she told MTV News that not only did she want to team up with friend Taylor Swift on her album, she also wants to work with different producers. So who might those producers be?

“It’s not necessarily about bigness or who they are — I love Sandy Vee, he’s given me my song ‘Middle of Nowhere.’ I love Max Martin and those kind of producers, but I also love Rock Mafia, who have given me my hits ‘Naturally’ and ‘Love You Like a Love Song,’ so I’m open to work with anybody.”

Selena Gomez Says ‘Spicy’ ‘Fifty Shades’ Role Isn’t For Her

In May, Selena Gomez poked fun at the blush-inducing literary phenomenon that is “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Appearing in a Funny or Die sketch titled “Fifty Shades of Blue,” Gomez, playing a naive, lusty Ana Steele type, longed for her handyman, played by Nick Kroll, who comes across in the skit as anything but the suave, sexy Christian Grey from the trilogy.

Is Selena Gomez Down To Be In ‘Fifty Shades’?

However, before Gomez hit the set for the short, she had to do some research and read E L James’ book. Well, what she read truly did leave her cheeks rosy. “I only read the beginning of it, because when they told me about the skit, I didn’t know what it was about,” she told MTV News. “So I started to read it, and I was like, ‘Oh, this is spicy.’ So I thought it was good, it was intriguing. Obviously, it’s working, so the skit was really funny.”

While it seems that every actress in Hollywood has some form of “Fifty Shades” fever, given that the book will soon be made into a movie, did starring in “Fifty Shades of Blue” make Gomez want to tackle the starring role in the real thing? “I don’t think so. I know I’m taking risks, but I don’t think I could do that!” she said. “That would be a little too much for me. I think someone older should do that part.”

“Fifty Shades” might be a bit too mature for Gomez, but her next slate of projects will show that the 19-year-old is growing up, even if at a slower pace. In addition to her bikini-clad role in the “raw” “Spring Breakers,” Gomez will soon begin work on her next album.

“I am missing music, so we’re going to start on the fourth record at the end of this year,” she explained about heading back into the studio after working on several film projects. “Very different! I want to go for producers that probably wouldn’t want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. I want to work with just different styles of music.

“I also want to work with Taylor [Swift] too. So I just want to do different things for this album,” she added. “By the time it comes out, I’ll almost be 21, so I want to be able to — wow, that sounds really scary! — I want it to be older.”

Selena Gomez covers Elle Magazine

With her new short film “Fifty Shades of Blue” having recently been released, Selena Gomez garnered herself a little added exposure by covering the July 2012 issue of ELLE magazine.

The 19-year-old singer/actress is clad in a Balmain embroidered lambskin top with a Mugler Viscose skirt on a bright yellow backdrop for the Carter Smith shot front page while talking about topics including Hollywood, fashion and Justin Bieber.

Highlights from Miss Gomez’s interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to ELLE!

On Bieber renting out LA’s Staples Center for a private screening of Titanic:
“If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic. I had just mentioned it in the car – all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then.”

On growing up poor:
“I can remember about seven times when our car got stuck on the highway because we’d run out of gas money.” Still her mother, “saved up to take me to concerts. She took me to museums, aquariums, to teach me about the world, about what’s real.”

On Disney:
“Disney is a machine, so people automatically assume that you can’t work for the channel unless you act and sing and dance and sign up for all that. That’s absolutely not true. I always did everything the way I wanted to do it.”

On her movie offers:
“I get offered the teenybopper movies, and I’ve done that. I haven’t done a mega-hundred-billion-dollar Transformers movie, but that’s not what I want to do either.”

On seeing Jennifer Lopez in Selena at age five:
“I made a bustier out of a bathing suit that I dyed black. I put glue and glitter all over it and I wouldn’t take it off.”

Selena Gomez Grows Up

With two decidedly grown-up film roles, her first fragrance and a summer apparel collection on her plate, Selena Gomez is determined to defy perceptions that she is a one-note teenage celebrity.

“I’m enjoying doing things that allow me to stretch my abilities,” said Gomez, who will celebrate her 20th birthday on July 22. “I want to continue in that direction.”

Gomez is finishing postproduction work on the indie film “Spring Breakers,” due next year. “It was a very different type of role for me,” she said. “I play a religious girl named Faith. Her best friends aren’t the best influences, and want to go to spring break but can’t afford it. So they rob a convenience store and get away with it — and go on spring break. We end up getting busted by the cops and going to jail, and James Franco’s character, a rapper-drug dealer, bails us out.”

Later this month she will begin shooting “The Getaway,” an action film co-starring Ethan Hawke. “We’re being chased in a car the entire movie,” she said. “[As the plot goes] he stole my car, and I got in the car because I wanted it back — and I end up in the midst of all of this drama. His wife is being kidnapped by this person that’s following him.”

The summer collection for Gomez’s apparel line, Dream Out Loud, hits Kmart doors on April 15, and she speaks excitedly of Postcard on the Run, a mobile app in which she is an investor. “It lets users snap a photograph on an iPhone or Android and instantly send it as a real printed postcard,” she explained.

But first, there’s her debut fragrance — a project that will be launched exclusively at Macy’s and macys.com in mid-May. It is slated to begin rolling out to wider, to-be-determined distribution in August.

The scent, which Gomez created with Givaudan, has top notes of orange, pineapple, peach and raspberry; a heart of purple freesia, Cosmone musk and dewberry, and a drydown of amber, vanilla, chocolate and coconut. Eaux de parfum in two sizes, 1.7 oz. for $45 and 3.4 oz. for $55, will be sold.

Gomez said she picked out her top five or six ingredients for the top, heart and drydown of the fragrance, and allowed her fans to vote on them. Gomez and the perfumers picked three possible combinations, and then Gomez flew in groups of fans to smell the finalists in person.

The bottle — in the shape of a swirly purple gown — was difficult to pull off, Gomez noted. “I knew I wanted a tall bottle, because I feel like it can kind of stand up with all the other fragrances,” she said. The ad visual, shot by Greg Kadel, is of Gomez in a deep purple gown, underwater. It will begin breaking in May and June books.

While Gomez and her fragrance licensee, ID Perfumes (a division of Adrenalina), declined to comment on projected sales, industry sources estimated that the scent could do upward of $10 million at retail in the U.S. in its first year on counter.

Gomez said she hopes this scent is the first in a series of fragrances bearing her name, and said her scent brand will evolve as she does. “Each will represent me as I am at that time,” she noted. “It’s kind of me winging it. I definitely like to wing things.”

Selena Gomez: Justin Bieber is a good kisser

Selena Gomez has finally admitted that Justin Bieber is a good kisser. In the past, the Who Says singer would dodge questions about her boyfriend, but it seems like she has let loose a little bit—rather, she was tricked in to it.

While doing an interview on Wednesday (see video), Gomez was asked if Justin was a good kisser, to which she quickly replied, “I can’t answer that.” The interviewer than said, “just smile,” and she did, and apparently that confirmed the question. Always coy about her relationship with Bieber, Gomez is very classy when responding to the never-ending questions about her relationship with him.

Justin and Selena have vacationed together, attended events together, and have even puckered up on camera, thus proving that their relationship is the real deal. However, they both keep fairly quiet when it comes to probing questions, and for teenagers, that’s not always easy. Their relationship is growing and so is the curiosity of people all over the world.
