Selena Gomez on Justin Bieber’s Mustache: I Don’t Encourage It

Selena Gomez is on interview rounds promoting her latest single, “Who Says,” and stopped by Sirius XM’s radio show The Morning Mash Up to discuss her new music and… facial hair. Inevitably, the interview led into the Justin Bieber zone, as Selena and JB recently went public with their relationship. So what does the singer think about her boyfriend’s attempts at a mustache?

Morning Mash Up co-host Rich, explained to Selena every March he grows a beard and then at the end of the month he shaves the beard and leaves the mustache calling it his “March-Stacheness”experiment.

RICH: I noticed Justin Bieber does that …Do you encourage the mustache?

SG: I actually don’t.

STANLEY T (MORNING MASH UP): Did you tell him that?

SG: Of course I did.

RICH: But he’s doing it anyway?

SG: Yeah (laughs)

RYAN: Are you totally against it? Any facial hair?

SG: No…I like it. You’ve got to commit [to growing a mustache]. You can’t just be like, ‘Let me know do a little one.’ (she continues to laugh)

RICH: A soul patch? (a patch of hair on the chin)

SG: I don’t like that.

Selena also opened up to the funny co-hosts about dating a celebrity.

RICH: Isn’t it so bizarre…when you date another celebrity that people are that invested as fans that they get mad when a celebrity dates someone?

SG: But I get it. You know what’s funny? I did a movie with Katie Cassidy. But when I was 12, I hated her because she dated Jesse McCartney…I was in love with Jesse McCartney. And he was with Katie Cassidy and it was the end of the world for me.

RYAN: Did you ever tell her this?

SG: I actually didn’t…We’re about to do a bunch of press together so I’m sure the story will come out. And I love her, she’s the sweetest thing ever.
